Astor Hotel Athens

The photographic challenge

At Astor Hotel, the city view is a strong part of the presentation, particularly from the breakfast area. I want it to remain visible without making the interior merely a foreground for the Acropolis. The collection also needs to connect guest rooms, reception, lounge and conference space. Each has a different purpose, so the photographs should communicate those differences while maintaining a consistent treatment of light and perspective.

My approach

The breakfast room introduces the hotel through the relationship between the prepared tables, glazing and Athens beyond. Furniture and table settings give the view a scale and a context. The Acropolis is part of the setting, while the room remains the place from which that setting is experienced.

Guest-room photographs move to a more intimate level. Blue bedcovers and timber furnishings establish the palette, with views of the sitting area and balcony explaining how the room opens towards the city. A further bedroom view describes a different arrangement rather than repeating the same composition.

The reception and lounge show the shared spaces. Marble flooring, the reception desk, wood panels and seating give the hotel a different material character from its rooms. I keep the framing clear so a viewer can understand both the individual furnishings and the space around them.

The conference room adds another function to the collection. Rows of chairs and the projection screen give it a direct, practical reading. It belongs in the same photographic account as the guest spaces, with the lighting and geometry treated consistently.

The entrance photograph connects the interior to the Athens street. A separate city view gives more room to the Acropolis and surrounding rooftops, complementing the breakfast and balcony photographs where the outlook is seen in relation to the hotel.

The result

The collection gives hotel managers a view of both the accommodation and the spaces that support it. It presents Astor Hotel within Athens, Greece, while retaining the particular experience of its rooms and city-facing areas. My hospitality photography combines the spatial accuracy of architectural work with attention to how a guest understands a property, producing a coherent selection rather than a series of unrelated room views.
