Residential practice / Architecture, interiors and place
Homes, understood as architecture.
Residential photography is not only a record of rooms. It is a study of how architecture, light, materials and everyday life come together to create a sense of place.
Stavros Marmaras is an Athens-based architectural and commercial photographer with more than twenty-five years of professional experience. His residential work brings that architectural eye to villas, private homes, apartments and carefully designed living spaces, creating a coherent visual story from exterior context to interior detail.
Each assignment is approached according to the character and intended use of the property. Images may need to communicate design decisions to an architectural audience, introduce a residence to potential buyers or guests, support an editorial feature, or provide a refined long-term visual archive for its owners and creative team. The photography remains precise while allowing natural light, atmosphere and the relationship with the surrounding landscape to stay visible.

Complete residential coverage
Residential photography, from exterior to interior.
Strong residential imagery connects the building to its setting and carries the same visual discipline through rooms, surfaces and moments of use. The result is not a disconnected set of views, but a considered account of the property as a whole.

01
Architecture & Exterior Form
Facades, volumes, entrances, terraces and the relationship between a residence and its setting are photographed with close attention to geometry, scale and the movement of light.
02
Interiors & Spatial Flow
Rooms are read through proportion, circulation and connection. Careful viewpoints describe how spaces relate without exaggerating dimensions or losing the character of the design.
03
Materials, Objects & Craft
Joinery, stone, textiles, furniture and crafted details reveal the decisions that give a home its identity. These smaller observations support the larger architectural narrative.
04
Natural Light & Lived Character
Daylight, evening transitions and restrained lifestyle moments introduce atmosphere while keeping the architecture central. The property feels inhabited without becoming staged beyond recognition.

Planning the assignment
Built around place, light and purpose.
The structure of a residential photography assignment depends on the property and the audience it must reach. An architect may need a precise account of form, materials and spatial decisions. A villa owner or property team may also need atmosphere, amenities and the relationship between indoor and outdoor life. Editorial use can require a more interpretive rhythm.
Before the shoot, the orientation of the building, key views, important materials and the best times for natural light are considered. The final sequence combines broad architectural views with interior transitions, details and a measured sense of use, giving designers, owners and marketing teams a versatile visual library.
01 / Define the audience, intended use and priority spaces.
02 / Plan viewpoints and timing around orientation and natural light.
03 / Build one coherent edit from context to crafted detail.
