Jewelry Shop in Korydallos

The photographic challenge

Glass displays, illuminated cabinets and a curved dark ceiling give this jewelry shop a strong visual identity. They also create several competing layers of light and reflection. I want the products to remain easy to see, with the architecture around them still readable. In a long retail interior, the viewpoint matters just as much: one photograph cannot explain the entrance, central counters and rear of the shop equally well.

My approach

I introduce the design through a view along the principal display wall. The freestanding counters define the centre of the room, while the curved ceiling and its warm illuminated edge guide the eye towards the rear. Pale finishes contrast with darker textured surfaces, giving the composition a clear structure.

Looking back towards the glazed entrance changes the reading of the space. The street becomes visible beyond the displays, and the viewer can understand the relationship between the shop floor and its public frontage. A vertical interior photograph offers another perspective on the central case and sculpted ceiling. I use these different views to explain the design, rather than repeating the same lengthwise composition.

A closer frontal view of the tall cabinets concentrates on their divisions, necklace stands and linear lighting. Glass remains part of the visual language, with reflections giving depth, but the displays need to stay legible. Smaller photographs of the textured chair, dried grasses and deep red passage introduce changes of material and colour within the sequence.

The exterior photographs place the shop in Korydallos, Athens. A wider view includes neighbouring buildings and trees; a closer one focuses on the black-framed entrance and illuminated windows. Together, they connect the interior design by architect Adonis Fountis with the shop's presence on the street.

The result

For a retail business or designer, a useful collection needs to show both the overall arrangement and the details that distinguish it. This series brings those scales together while preserving the shop's anonymity. My commercial interior photography in Greece pays attention to how a space presents its products, with architectural clarity and atmosphere given equal consideration.
