PROJECT STORY
Stone, white timber and the coast of Paxos.
The photographic challenge
The coastal cliffs and open sea provide a striking setting at Villa Sargasso. My priority is to give the house and terraces enough presence within that landscape. The stone walls, white pergolas and pitched interior ceilings each have their own texture and geometry. Bright views beyond shaded spaces need a natural balance, so that the photographs describe the accommodation as clearly as the outlook.
My approach
The pool and coastline establish the property within Paxos, in Greece's Ionian Islands. Views of the stone buildings and planted gardens bring the focus closer. Loungers and a prepared breakfast tray give the poolside setting a human scale, complementing the wider architectural photographs.
The dining terraces offer several useful relationships between materials, shade and view. White pergolas provide a rhythm above woven chairs and timber tables, while bougainvillea and stone walls introduce texture. A lounge view beneath the covered terrace gives another way to understand the outdoor spaces.
Inside, white timber ceilings connect the living, dining and bedroom photographs. Grey sofas and timber furniture provide a quieter foundation, with the openings towards the sea linking the rooms to the terraces. The bedroom views retain their individual fabrics and furnishings rather than making every room look the same.
I use a combination of wider and closer viewpoints to explain the spaces without exaggerating their proportions. The visible routes through doorways and between furnishings help a viewer place one room in relation to another.
The later photographs return outdoors. A stone arch frames the sunset, and the pool takes on a different character as the lighting becomes more prominent. The familiar pergolas and cliff line keep those evening views connected to the daytime sequence.
The result
The collection presents Villa Sargasso through architecture, interiors and coastal atmosphere. For owners and villa managers, that range allows the property to be introduced through both clear room views and more personal terrace photographs. My villa photography in Paxos and across Greece focuses on a natural account of each setting, with consistent geometry and colour giving the sequence its continuity.
