PROJECT STORY
Opening the rooms towards Navarino Bay.
The photographic challenge
The view towards Navarino Bay gives Kalithea Villa a strong setting, but the architecture needs to remain more than a frame around it. The open-plan rooms, stone facade and pool terrace each contribute to the property. In the photographs, I want the interior proportions and materials to remain clear alongside the outlook. Dusk and night views add another balance between the light inside the house and the darker surroundings.
My approach
The open kitchen and dining area provides an introduction from within the villa. The terrace and evening sky remain visible beyond, showing how the room connects to the setting. Other views give the living room and dining furniture a different scale, with the openings carrying continuity through the selection.
The bedroom photograph follows the same relationship. A long timber desk and glazing give the bay view a place within the room. I keep the furniture, floor and edges of the space visible so the interior can be understood alongside the landscape.
Outside, the pool and terrace establish the villa's position above the bay. A top-down view describes the water and timber deck more directly, while an elevated composition places the house among olive groves. These aerial perspectives add information that the ground-level photographs cannot provide.
A closer photograph of the staircase, ceramic vase and white pebble garden gives time to the smaller architectural decisions. It introduces a quieter transition between the room photographs and the wider exterior views.
At night, the illuminated stone facade and pool become the centre of the composition. Their reflections bring the building and water together. Returning to the living and dining area in evening light gives another reading of the same connection between the interior and the terrace.
The result
The collection presents Kalithea Villa through its rooms and its setting in Messinia, in the Peloponnese, Greece. For owners and managers, it gives a fuller account than a view-led selection alone: the architecture, interiors, circulation and pool each have a place. My architectural and villa photography focuses on those relationships, keeping the presentation natural and spatially clear while allowing the light to change its atmosphere.
