PROJECT STORY

From the coastline to the courtyard.

The photographic challenge

The sea is present in almost every part of Villa Artemis. For me, the photographic consideration is how to keep that setting visible without allowing it to overwhelm the house. The pale facade, layered stone terraces and long pool need to remain easy to understand. Inside, the blue furnishings and artwork deserve the same attention as the view through the windows. A photograph has to hold those elements together; an attractive horizon alone says very little about the accommodation.

My approach

I begin the series above the villa, where the pool, roofs and coastline can be read together. Those aerial views give the ground-level photographs a useful context. From there, the sequence moves into the pergola-covered lounge and dining terraces. Their repeated beams draw shadows across the furniture, while the glass balustrade leaves the sea visible beyond. I use the furniture and the edges of the terrace to give the view a foreground and a sense of scale.

The interiors introduce a different rhythm. White ceiling beams structure the living room, with blue sofas and colourful artwork bringing warmth to the pale surfaces. The dining table and marble kitchen island help explain how the principal rooms connect. In the bedrooms and smaller sitting areas, I pay closer attention to the relationship between furniture, daylight and the openings towards the coast. Keeping the verticals controlled makes the architecture readable without losing the room's atmosphere.

The garden photographs are quieter. An olive tree beside a stone staircase, seating beneath a canopy and the waterfront table make room for smaller observations between the larger views. They show the character of the outdoor spaces at a more personal scale.

After dark, the same architecture reads differently. The illuminated pool, candlelit dining terrace and courtyard arches each bring out a separate quality of the property. Returning to an aerial view at night brings those individual spaces back into one composition.

The result

The collection brings together the things I look for in luxury villa photography: a clear account of the building, rooms that feel natural, and a setting that belongs to the story. For an owner or manager presenting Villa Artemis in Corfu, Greece, this range offers more than a single defining photograph. It shows how the property moves from outdoor living to interiors and evening atmosphere, while keeping a consistent visual character.
