PROJECT STORY

Stone terraces above the bay.

The photographic challenge

The pool's curves, stone architecture and sea-facing terraces provide strong forms at Beyond Mykonos Villas. The photography needs to explain how they connect, with the interiors given as much attention as the outlook. Bright coastal light and deep pergola shade can sit within the same view. I aim to retain the textures and proportions on both sides of that contrast, keeping the space believable.

My approach

The poolside photographs introduce the relationship between water, loungers and the bay. The curved pool edge provides a line through the composition, with timber decks and pergolas describing the areas around it. Other exterior views give the stone facade more emphasis and show how the building meets the terrace.

The shaded breakfast settings bring the collection closer to the use of those spaces. A table on the stone terrace and the pebble-filled glass tabletop introduce texture and a personal scale. I retain the architecture and view around them so the photographs remain connected to the property.

Inside, white rooms and exposed ceiling beams offer a calmer palette. Dark seating gives the living room a clear visual anchor. The bedrooms open to sheltered terraces, with timber furniture and the doorways helping explain the transition outside. I use those openings as part of the composition rather than isolating the rooms from their setting.

The evening photographs return to the pool and stone facade. Illumination gives the materials a different weight, and reflections connect the building with the water. The hot tub and timber deck remain visible as parts of that arrangement.

I bring these different viewpoints together with consistent geometry and colour, allowing the changes in light to provide variation without changing the photographic language.

The result

The series presents Beyond Mykonos Villas in Mykonos, in the Cyclades, Greece, through architecture, rooms and outdoor living. For owners and managers, it offers views that explain the accommodation as well as the atmosphere around the pools. My villa and interior photography aims to give each property a clear visual identity, with the particular materials and setting carrying the story.
