Villa Icarus

The photographic challenge

Villa Icarus brings together a coastal garden, a swimming pool and richly furnished interiors. The photographic challenge is to present these different aspects as one residence, showing both the villa’s setting beside the sea and the character of its individual rooms.

My approach

Aerial photographs establish the relationship between the house, lawn, pool and rocky shoreline. Ground-level views then move through the entrance courtyard and garden towards the outdoor living spaces. The change of scale helps connect the wider setting with the details experienced around the property.

Inside, I photograph the reception rooms, dining room, kitchen and bedrooms with attention to their proportions and furnishings. Warm-toned wall panels, patterned rugs, chandeliers and sculpture give the interiors a distinct identity. Wider compositions keep those details within the context of each room, rather than treating them as isolated decoration.

The collection returns outdoors as the light changes. Pool reflections, sunset views and the illuminated dining pergola describe a different atmosphere from the daytime photographs, while night views complete the relationship between the villa and its garden.

The result

Commissioned by Engel & Völkers, this series presents Villa Icarus on the Athenian Riviera, Attica, Greece. Architectural, interior and aerial photographs bring together its coastal location, furnished living spaces and outdoor setting in a coherent residential collection.
